In 2022, Towneley Park celebrates 120 years being open as a public park. When opened by the Corporation in June the park was much smaller than now. Over the 120 years the park has expanded and has continually changed both with the seasons and through long term planning. Early emphasis was on providing public facilities but latterly restoration has been key together with improving vistas, access, toilet facilities, sport and playgrounds, paths as well as improved parking and increased public involvement.
