Mary was born in Padiham, Lancashire in 1892. The main part of the collection are cards from her pal Herbert who was also born in Padiham in 1889.
The couple married in 1922 and there were no children. Herbert died in 1970 with Mary in 1981.

He joined the Royal Marines Medical Unit in 1914.

This card was sent to Archie’s and Mary’s half-sister who was variously called Ketty, Kitty but her real name was Catherine. Archie was killed in action in 1916.
