100 Stories > Walter Crossley (b 1895)

Walter Crossley served in the Cameronians and was wounded at the Battle of Loos, 1915. Loos was the first major British offensive on the Western Front. He wrote from his hospital bed in Ipswich to Herbert Hartley in Burnley. The letter graphically records the action he was in. More than 50 Burnley men were killed 25th/26th September, 1915.
