100 Stories > Peter Stanworth (1888-1918)

Peter’s letters show his passion for his family, faith, teaching scouting.

Leaving his post as head of St Stephen’s School, he was called up and 17 months later was killed in action. The school log book records, ‘received news that Mr Stanworth has been killed in action on 24th August. Everyone dreadfully troubled.’ Peter is also commemorated on the Coal Clough School memorial.
