In March 2020, Coronavirus forced a country wide lockdown and all Burnley Youth Theatre workshops went online. Productions were live streamed to homes and schools across the country including a Christmas production Jack and the Beanstalk and an early years piece The Land of Nod.

The building reopened in April 2021 with strict Covid rules in place but children, young people and families were finally allowed to enjoy in person workshops again. The first performance Into The Forest Grimm was a huge success and was followed by many high quality productions including The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

In 2023, Burnley Youth Theatre began to celebrate its 50th year anniversary with workshops, projects and events for local children, young people and families. The 50 year archive is being brought to life with a digital exhibition, online events and public exhibitions across the town.
