Each artist involved in this specially commissioned exhibition has responded to the history of Towneley Hall, it’s artwork & historic collections, social history, buildings or grounds.
Working with a broad range of materials and approaches, each of the artists has sought to delve behind our everyday understanding of the Hall and those who once lived here, revealing the hidden. The works have been created by six members of The Burnley Creative Alliance (a loose collective of artists working in and around Burnley).
The exhibition includes work from the following artists; Sophie Gibson, Philippe Handford, Fiona Hornby, Jai Redman, Jane Richmond & Amy Tempest.

Towneley Hall is now open to the public.
During our period of closure staff have been busy working on essential maintenance to the hall, ensuring its place in Burnley’s history for another 600 years. Currently this means the Great Hall is closed whilst we undertake surveys and repairs to the Grade I listed ceiling.
Thank you for your support.
Hand sanitizer, one way system, social distancing, mask wearing and the NHS track and trace app will all be in use to keep visitors safe.
