Following government advice to restrict social contact due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we have taken the decision to close Towneley Hall Historic House, Art Gallery & Museum from 5pm on Thursday 19th March until further notice.

The safety of visitors, staff, volunteers and our local community is paramount.

Staff at Towneley Hall will continue to work behind the scenes, caring for the collections and working on our future exhibitions and events programme which we look forward to sharing with you.

Follow our Towneley Hall Facebook page for further updates and ways to explore the heritage of the local area while we are closed at this time.

In line with the Government’s instructions to avoid any unnecessary travel, Burnley Borough Council is also closing car parks in Towneley Park and at Rowley Lake.

The Governments restrictions permit people to exercise outside once per day by walking, running or cycling from their house.

Burnley’s parks remain open for exercise, but play areas, toilets, cafes and sports facilities are closed.
