This exhibition celebrates the life of a great character. A Burnley man whose reign at Burnley Football Club and at the pinnacle of English Football spanned a period of thirty years from 1951 to his death in December 1981.
Born in June 1908, not far from Towneley Hall on Parliament Street. After leaving school in 1922, the young Lord began hawking meat around the streets of Burnley and later built a meat empire employing hundreds of people. In his youth he was a keen Burnley FC supporter and rose to became one of the most controversial and influential men in football.
